What's different

What makes SEO for manufacturers different

SEO for manufacturers follows its own rules. These four factors decide whether your website brings in inquiries or just visitors.

  • The niche makes the difference

In manufacturing, success comes from a clear focus on your niche. Broad content and generic strategies usually fizzle out. Your pages should speak to exactly the buyers who need your technology, not to as many visitors as possible.

  • Few searches, big orders

Only a few people search for what you offer, but any one of those searches can lead to a large order. Competition for these terms is thin, and companies that own the searches in their niche often have the field almost to themselves.

  • Several decision-makers read the same page

The design engineer checks feasibility, purchasing looks for a supplier that meets the spec, and management weighs the risk before signing off. If your product page answers what each of them needs to know, it works for you in conversations you're not part of.

  • Technical depth is a must

Buyers and engineers can tell within a few sentences whether someone understands their technology. That's why copy from generic copywriters or unchecked AI can backfire. We make sure your pages speak your customers' language.

AI search

SEO now goes beyond Google: why visibility in AI answers matters for manufacturers

Technical depth pays off twice, because AI systems also look for clear, reliable sources. Investment decisions are increasingly talked through with an AI first, and even specifications are now being written with AI. If the AI’s information comes from your pages, the buyer already knows your solution before contacting suppliers. Our clients already see prospects list ChatGPT as their source in contact forms.

That’s why we always look at SEO and AI search together. AI tools draw on search engines in the background to build their answers. If search engines can’t find you, you’re often missing from the AI answer too. SEO remains extremely important, but on its own it’s no longer enough.

What this means for you: the same product page has to be found on Google and be clear enough for an AI to use it as a source. That second part is called generative engine optimization: the goal is to be named as a supplier in AI answers. Our page on AI search optimization explains how it works in detail.

Sales

What changes for your sales team

Your sales team won't see the difference in rankings. They'll see it in who gets in touch and how much they already know.

  • Inquiries come to you

Anyone who contacts you through your product page has already looked into your technology, so your sales team starts the conversation further along. That matters all the more now that AI phone assistants let fewer and fewer cold calls through.

  • Inquiries from countries where you have no sales team

Many hidden champions* have only a handful of competitors worldwide, and their buyers are spread around the globe. If you can be found internationally, you get inquiries from markets where you have no sales presence. Our page on international SEO shows how that works in several languages.

  • Less dependent on trade shows and referrals

Growth through networks and referrals hits a ceiling at some point. For one client, nearly all new business in 2025 came through online search, on Google and through ads, while trade shows and networking brought in hardly any new customers.

* Hidden champions: companies that lead the world market in their niche while remaining largely unknown to the public. The term was coined by Hermann Simon.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about SEO for manufacturers

Is SEO alone still enough?

No. Looking at SEO in isolation no longer makes sense. In most cases, we aim for a presence across all search channels, on Google and in AI answers, because your buyers do their research in both places. Google Ads can also be useful, but it’s an option, not a requirement. We’ll work out which combination fits your niche in the free consultation. To see what the AI side of the work looks like, read AI search optimization for manufacturers.

How much work will this mean for our team?

As much as you want. With full-service support, we write the content and publish it on your website through an interface; your team just reviews it. Where we have this access to your website, running it together with the content and campaigns takes the workload of a part-time to full-time marketing position off your plate. With our basic support package, we plan and manage, and your team writes. Either way, it’s ongoing SEO support: every month, your website grows with content for your niche, written by us or by your team, and you see which inquiries it generates.

How soon do the first inquiries come in?

Sometimes within a few weeks. Pebot, with no existing contacts in the market, received its first inquiry after about two weeks, with SEO and Google Ads combined (Pebot case study). How fast it goes for you depends on your starting point and your niche, so we don’t make blanket promises. If you need inquiries quickly, add Google Ads for manufacturers.

What does SEO cost for a manufacturing company?

We don’t quote a flat price here, because the effort depends on your niche, your markets and your team. An honest benchmark is your trade show budget: what does one trade show cost you, and how many new customers does it bring in? All prices are clearly stated in the detailed proposal you receive after the free consultation.

Do we need to rebuild our website?

In most cases, no. An existing WordPress site can be adapted so that new content is published directly through an interface, in all languages. With other systems, it depends on the setup; we check that up front. A rebuild only pays off when the website itself is in the way. If it is, see our page on manufacturing website design.

Do you understand our technology?

Yes, and we make sure of it before the first text is written. Every engagement starts with a kick-off workshop on your niche, your goals and your buyers. eingenetzt was founded by mechanical engineer Dennis Redder, and his engineering background shapes every page we write for you. We use AI tools in content creation; every text is reviewed by engineers for technical accuracy, and approval stays with you.

Is there a minimum term?

Only a short one: usually three months, so we can lay the groundwork for your niche. After that, the terms are flexible: you can end the engagement or switch between full-service and basic support.
